Rule Changes (Updated 7/13/21):

The Running Long Jump competition has been changed to a triple jump variation due to the landing pit for the long jump being closed. The triple jump will be explained in more detail at track days

Rule Changes (Updated 6/21/21):

  1. The Max Sled Push Event has been changed to the following:

    • Most Sled Pushes in 2 Minutes with 180 lbs (4, 45 lb Plates) for Women, 360 lbs for Men, and 90 lbs for Kids Under 14.

      • Age Advantages for Women: Take one plate off if over 50, 2 plates off if over 60, and 3 plates off if over 70.

      • Age Advantages for Men: Take two plates off if over 50, 4 plates off if over 60, and 6 plates off if over 70.

    • Each length of the gym the sled travels will count as 25 Feet, then the last push will be measured where you end after the 2 minutes.

  2. Coaches are allowed to participate in one event for their team. The event they choose will count for the points in the top 10 and also for the team average for that event. The event does not need to be chosen until the final day.

  3. The end of Summer Olympics party will take place on Friday, August 6th (ending day was previously the 7th). We will have an outdoor gathering in the back parking lot with food and drinks provided. During this party we will announce all individual and team winners too. All clients are invited even if they are not participating in the events.

Rule Changes (Updated 6/13/21):

1) If you forget to do your burpees at the gym, then you are allowed to film yourself doing them at home. After you film them post it to social media and tag us (@becomebettersppt). You will then get your normal points. Note, you still need to have come to the gym that day in order to get these points.

2) Weight loss/gain points have been changed from 20 points to 25 points per lb lost/gained. We hope this will be added motivation for many of you to get back on track to reaching your goals!

3) Max Sled Push Bonus Points for age are now … Add your age if over 50, add double your age if over 60, and add Triple your age if over 70.

Explanation:

Become Better’s Summer Fitness Olympics will start on June 1st, 2021 and end August 7th, 2021. Everyone that has signed up to participate will be drafted to a team on May 31st (Memorial Day). Teams will be picked by the three current coaches at Become Better, Myself (Coach Dan), Coach Joey, and Coach Paige. AP Fit Now will also have a team full of his clients. Clients will be able to accumulate points for themselves and their team by participating in the 12 events listed below. You will have all Summer to complete these events and are more than welcome to do them multiple times for better scores. For the events that take place outside on a track we will organize specific Fridays and Saturdays to go to either Bethel Park HS or USC HS and use their facilities. There will likely be 5-6 opportunities for this. For most events, 1000 points will be given to the winner, 900 for second place, 800 for third place, ... 100 for 10th place. Everyone that simply participates and tries their best will also be given 100 points. Those that place in the top 10 will also receive this bonus 100. You may also gain 10 points by simply doing 10 burpees at the end of each of your normal workouts. However, if you are over the age of 50, then you will receive 15 points, and if you are over the age of 65 or under the age of 14, then you will be given 20 points each time you do 10 burpees. One last way to gain extra points will be for those that are either trying to gain or lose weight. You will receive 20 bonus points for every pound gained or lost during the summer. This will require a weigh-in at the start and end of Summer. Obviously when I am talking about gaining weight I am referring to the young kids that are too small **cough, Charlie, cough** and could use a few extra pounds. All points an individual receives will also automatically be give to their team. At the end of the Summer we will then crown the winning team and winning individuals of each event along with the top 10 individuals who finished with the most points.

        • Age Advantages for Women: Take one plate off if over 50, 2 plates off if over 60, and 3 plates off if over 70.

        • Age Advantages for Men: Take two plates off if over 50, 4 plates off if over 60, and 6 plates off if over 70.

    • Time of the intervals will be determined by your age. If you are in your 20’s you will have 20 seconds to slam and 20 seconds to rest. If you are in your 30’s, you will have 30 seconds to slam and 30 seconds to rest. This will be an obvious advantage to older clients.

    • There will be only 1 division. Men will use the 20lb ball and Women and kids will use the 10lb ball.

  6. Bar Math Test: See The Current Standings Here

    • 10 Questions all related to how much weight is on a bar or how you would get the bar to be a certain weight.

  7. Plate Loading/Unloading Competition: See The Current Standings Here

    • This will be done with a partner

    • This will be done at the Track

    • Throw a medicine ball as far as you can. Wherever the ball lands, not where it rolls, will count as your distance.

    • There will be a Men’s and Women’s Division. Men will use a 12lb ball. Women and kids under 14 will use a 6.

  12. Rower Relay: 4 x 500M: See The Current Standings Here

    1. 2 Men and 2 Women will compete in this relay. Each participant has to row 500 M and then get out of the rower so that their teammate can get in. The time changing out of the rower counts towards your final time so the faster you change the better.

    2. Time starts with one participant on the seat and ends with the final stroke of the 4th rower. Therefore, the last rower doesn’t have to actually get out of the seat and the first doesn’t need to get into the seat.

    3. Teams will be given 2000 points for 1st, 1600 for 2nd, 1200 for 3rd, 800 for 4th and 400 for 5th.

    4. Participants may try the relay with multiple teammates, but can only place once. For example, if I rowed on a team and had the best time, then rowed again with another team and had the third best time I (or the team) can not gain points for both.

Adjustments to events will be made if anything becomes off balance and all coaches agree to it.
