Background
My background involves an undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine from The University of Pittsburgh and a Graduate Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Gannon University. With both of those, I have gained experience in Gannon’s human performance lab, doing testing in body composition with air plethysmography along with metabolic cart testing on many of the athletic teams. I have gained skills in body composition, exercise physiology, and strength and conditioning from both programs. Along with these skills, I am a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and have experience with helping correct functional movement issues to attain better overall mobility.
Along with my lab experience, I have experience working with college students, athletes, and the elderly populations. In graduate school I had internships with Gannon’s competitive Cheerleading and women’s lacrosse teams as their strength and conditioning coach. I was in charge of exercise prescription and any testing needed in the human performance lab. I also worked at Gannon’s recreation and wellness center where I gained building supervisor and customer service skills. During my graduate study experience, I also interned at Lewis Performance. There, I helped as a strength coach for athletes ranging from late middle school to the minor league level.
I most currently was a floor manager/personal trainer for golf and tennis athletes at the Elk River Club in Banner Elk, North Carolina. There, I assessed clients and provide exercise prescription/coaching, along with motivation to reach their goals. All of these experiences are important in the creation of my coaching ability to best help clients reach their desired goals.
