About Coach Anthony:

Anthony is a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer. With a physically active background including baseball, running, obstacle course races, mountain biking, snowboarding, and over 25 years of playing hockey, Anthony has been immersed in fitness and conditioning for most of his life. In 2009 while working an office job, Anthony began a personal training program in which he was able gain significant strength while losing over 20 pounds. So impressed with the results, Anthony decided to get certified and began training clients in a local gym part time. It was here Anthony discovered he had a knack for relating to people, and the passion and talent to help people through personal training. After acquiring his MS in Exercise Science in 2014, it is now Anthony's mission to help others achieve their fitness potential.

In His Own Words:

A little while back, I was unhappy. I had always been active and an athlete in school, but now I was a few years out of college, working a job I wasn't really into, not really sure of what to do next, and I weighed the heaviest I had in my life. I still worked out sporadically and played hockey one night a week after work, but I wasn't eating healthy and It showed in my waste-line, energy level and self-esteem. Frankly I was stuck in a rut. One day things changed.

I remember the date, December 15th 2009. For lunch I had eaten another terrible fast food meal, and I felt terrible. Later that night I watched a documentary called "Food Inc" which changed my whole perspective on food and the lifestyle I was leading. I reflected on how I'd been living and realized I wasn't happy with my current state. The very next day I got a gym membership and began a regular fitness routine. I made gradual changes in my diet. I kind of knew what I was doing from my workouts with school athletics, fumbled through some things, and learned new things as I went along. Through this process, I read and studied fitness magazines and articles, I learned as much as I could. I realized that I had an interest and passion for learning about the human body, anatomy and physiology. Within 3 months I had lost over 20 pounds. I realized I wasn't happy with my current job and that I wanted to do something that utilized my new passion, I wanted to help others feel the way I was beginning to feel. A few months later when my company had a big layoff and I was one of the casualties, I took that as a sign.

I studied hard and got my certification to be a personal trainer. I began working and found I had a knack for relating to people and I loved helping and working with them. I wanted to go further however, I wanted to be the best trainer I could possibly be. I wanted to know as much as I could know. So I enrolled in school and got my Master's Degree in Exercise Science while still training part time. I achieved that goal in 2014. Now I love what do. I get to help people accomplish things they didn't think they could to, I get to help them reach their personal goals. It's a rewarding job where I get to work with and help a lot of great people. Many have become close friends. I am now happy with myself and the direction of my life. But I'm not done yet...each day I strive to be my best, whatever it may be that day, and continue to improve as a trainer and person for myself and for my clients. If you are someone out there that is not happy with the way things are going now, make a change. I did it, you can too. Live a life that makes you happy!
