SMS (Side Middle Side) Crunch

Instructions:

1) Crunch up and reach to one side.

2) Crunch up and reach to the middle

3) Crunch up and reach to the other side.

4) Crunch up and reach to the middle again.

5) Repeat

Helpful Hints/Cues:

1) Think about reaching as far as you can, but keep your lower back on the ground

2) It’s helpful to think about lifting your shoulders up off the ground when crunching.

Common Mistakes:

1) Moving your neck too much. Your neck should stay in a neutral position and not flail back and forward.

2) Doing a sit-up instead of a crunch. Keep the lower back down on the ground

3) Forgetting which way to go. As long as you stay moving you’ll be OK.
