Drop Jump Tutorial

Description/Instructions:

  1. Step on to a box (or any elevated surface)

  2. Drop off the box landing with both feet at the same time in an athletic position.

  3. Upon landing immediately jump up as high as possible

  4. Land on the ground in an athletic position.

  5. Repeat.

Helpful Cues:

  1. Be fast off the ground. Treat the ground as if it were really hot

  2. Try to land on the balls/middle of your feet, not just your toes.

  3. When dropping off the box don’t reach one foot down. Your feet should land together, not one and then the other.

  4. Keep your knees over your toes.

Common Mistakes:

  1. Spending too much time on the ground.

  2. Landing on your toes or heels.

  3. Landing with only one foot at a time.

  4. Knees caving in.
